  Internship Program

ACET’s internship program is structured with a work plan, learning objectives, evaluation tasks/activities, and an estimated timeline for completion. Interns will gain hands-on experience in the field of evaluation by working with staff on projects, corresponding with consultants, and interacting with clients. We want your experience to be educationally and personally rewarding! Below are some comments from former ACET interns:

“It was rewarding to see how the instrument I had drafted improved because of the input of the people who would eventually use them. I feel that [ACET] really created an environment where people would feel safe to voice their opinion.”
-Ann Ooms, Intern 2003

I was, and continue to be, very thankful for the practical experience offered through ACET. It was integral to truly completing my degree in that I was able to apply both quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods on a variety of projects. The small team at ACET meant that I received regular guidance and feedback and also made me feel as if I was actually contributing to the team and the field. Thank you ACET!”

-Nicole Cueno, Intern, Summer 2007

"The most rewarding part of my internship at ACET was feeling like as much of a team member as anyone else in the office; I got a chance to carry out and put together some significant parts of evaluations.  It also gave me a chance to put into practice and tie together many things I've learned (in the classroom) and also identified some skills that I'd love to develop even more throughout my career."

-Tim Barry, Intern, Winter 2008

Over the last six years, students from the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Policy, the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota have interned at ACET, as have students from Arizona State University, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and Baylor University (Waco, TX). In addition, some interns chose to receive up to five graduate-level credits for their internship.

Please note that the application process is competitive and the internship is non-paid. We will consider up to two interns each semester. In order for us to determine your need and fit for this program, we would like all interested applicants to complete our online application. After you complete the online application we will contact you for further information. Typically we request that you forward your resume and a writing sample for our review.

International Students: Please note that you must have Optional Practical Training (OPT) and an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Citizenship and Immigration Services in order to be considered for an internship at ACET.

If you have questions about the application process or ACET's internship program, please contact Dr. Kirsten Rewey, Internship Supervisor, at 952-922-1811.

Thank you for your interest in the ACET internship!
