Project Description: Midwest Center for
Postsecondary Outreach, or MCPO, (d.b.a. Postsecondary
Education Program Network, also called PEPNet) assists
postsecondary institutions in effectively serving
individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing. One of the
projects developed by MCPO was Gates to Adventure (GTA),
designed to assist students in transitioning from high
school to postsecondary education. GTA aimed to develop
a series of four internet-based modules, each of which
would handle a different area of transition. The four
gates were: 1) Ready, Set, Go! Plan for Postsecondary
Option; 2) First Year College Success: Be the One!;, 3)
Essential Skills for College Living: It's My Life!; and
4) e-Folio.
ACET
services: ACET was contracted by MCPO to evaluate
the GTA program. ACET conducted surveys and interviews
with a sample of GTA stakeholders to measure perceptions
of GTA for improving student knowledge and confidence
about postsecondary educational options. ACET also
compiled an evaluation to be distributed at the
introductory presentations of GTA to obtain participant
reactions. After analyzing all participant data, ACET
prepared a report of findings for MCPO.
