Agency Description: La Crescent Montessori Academy (LMA) became a Minnesota public charter school in August of 1999. The school was founded by a group of interested parents who wanted an all-day Montessori school option for their children. LMA began with two classrooms in a brand-new building and had one graduate in its very first year. It encompasses both a private Preschool for 3-4 year olds and a free Public School for Kindergarten through 8th grade. Montessori core beliefs are "respect of oneself, respect for each other, and respect for the environment."

ACET services: In 2000, LMA contracted with ACET to prepare the school’s first annual evaluation report. This annual evaluation report was intended to provide the Minnesota Department of Children, Families, and Learning, the Saint Paul Public Schools, the parents of La Crescent Montessori Academy (LMA) and the general public with information describing the successes and areas for improvement of LMA and its students in 1999-2000. Because 1999-2000 was LMA’s first year of operation, this report served as a baseline for future reports and evaluations.
