Agency Description: Cincinnati Children's Hospital
Medical Center is a nonprofit hospital and research
center that provides treatment and patient care, as well
as trains health care professionals for the future.
Project Description: The Cincinnati Children's
Hospital Medical Center was granted a funding stream to
expand evaluation capacity for their Maintaining African
American Traditions (MAAT) program, which provides
mentoring, substance abuse prevention, and social and
life skills training. MAAT achieves this by educating
children on the principles of the African American
experience such as cultural traditions and awareness.
The goal is to teach children to develop effective
skills to resist drug culture and build positive life
skills.
ACET services: The MAAT program contracted ACET
to assist in building their evaluation capacity. ACET
developed staff skills in facilitating focus groups.
ACET developed a focus group script with MAAT staff,
created a facilitation training manual, and summarized
focus group results for the organization.
