  ScholarShop

Agency Description: Scholarship America's mission is to make postsecondary education possible for all students. Scholarship America is the nation's largest nonprofit, private sector scholarship and educational support organization.

Project Description: ScholarShop® is an activity-based resource center designed to motivate and prepare students to achieve their full potential after graduating. ScholarShop® serves students in 4th through 12th grade.

ACET services: ACET in collaboration with DeYoung Consulting Team and Scholarship America staff created a survey for the ScholarShop Program to determine whether the program was a product that the organization should continue to offer and support. Eighty-six site coordinators were contacted throughout the U.S. with a 52% response rate. ACET staff assisted in determining evaluation criteria, user analysis, competitive and product analyses, and market analysis. Participant survey locations included Washington D.C., Illinois, Florida, Texas, Virginia, Ohio, California, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Oregon, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Missouri, Mississippi, Washington, and Indiana.  The survey was designed to analyze current users’ utility/implementation and perception of ScholarShop.  The surveys were created using an online internet tool called SurveyMonkey.  Surveys were distributed initially in February 2007 to current users’ e-mails and they were given 14 days to complete the survey.  Current users were also given three e-mail reminders and one follow-up phone call to remind them to complete the survey during the 14 days that the survey was open.  Completed surveys were analyzed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS 15.0.  Open-ended questions were transcribed and reviewed by the team.
