Agency Description: Urban Academy is a charter school that serves urban students in grades K-6.  They focus on a connected curriculum that recognizes and celebrates diversity. The school’s mission is “to work in partnership with urban parents to provide an opportunity for every child to meet or exceed their individual potential in basic academic and life skills by utilizing research proven methods in a safe, structured and respectful community.” Urban Academy developed two academic: 1) Improve students’ academic performance in reading and 2) Improve students’ academic performance in mathematics and two non-academic goals: 1) Increase family support for student learning and Increase student attendance for the 2005-06 school year as part of the school’s commitment to accountability. Both the academic and non-academic goals developed included specific indicators and measurement tools.

ACET services: ACET has designed the annual accountability plan and prepared the Annual Reports for Urban Academy since 2006. ACET has also aided in development and improvements to the school’s annual student and parent surveys, the School Improvement Plan, and the Self-Assessment report for renewal with UA’s sponsor. ACET provides ongoing capacity building through analysis and reporting of the Measures of Academic Progress assessments and student and parent surveys to staff.
