Meet Gabbi Horsford
ACET, Inc., is happy to introduce Gabbi Horsford, who joined ACET in November as a Research Assistant. Gabbi is gaining her MPH at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health in the Community Health Promotion program.
Gabbi supports projects by designing and programming surveys, assisting in and moderating focus groups, analyzing qualitative data, providing background research, discovering and adding many funding opportunities to ACET’s Grant Alert website, and helping to create reports.
“Working at ACET has strengthened my cultural humility,” Gabbi says. “It has given me the skills needed for cultural responsiveness, and well thought out data analysis and reporting.”
Gabbi’s dream is to increase the overall health of Black women. “Black women are at a very disadvantaged intersection of race and gender,” she says. “They’re often overlooked, and I don’t want that to happen anymore.”
During her undergraduate studies at the College of St. Benedict, Gabbi completed two research projects. One titled, “Exercise and Intersectionality: Racial Differences in Exercise Habits Amongst College-Aged Women” included analysis of survey and focus group data to understand the racial differences in beliefs and outcomes. During that project, Gabbi realized her passion for furthering health equity.
At ACET, Gabbi enjoys the variety of projects that she works on. “I work on diabetes prevention one day and prison rehabilitation the next,” she says. “It’s very important to me that the work I do is beneficial to clients.”
ACET extends a warm welcome to Gabbi! We’re delighted that you’re part of the ACET team.
