ACET was commissioned by the Foundation (2000-2008) to develop a rigorous quasi-experimental design to measure the long term impact of an early literacy Words Work initiative in Head Start programs.

The primary goal of the Words Work early literacy initiative was to prepare students to become successful learners in school and narrow the achievement gap for students with limited English, eligible for free and reduced price meals, and students of color.
